Invisalign aligners are the clear plastic alternative to metal braces. These clear aligners are the virtually invisible way to improve your smile.
Invisalign gives you the chance to have a beautiful and healthy smile without metal brackets attached to the teeth, and you are able to brush your teeth easily.
Invisalign braces give you the freedom to eat whatever food you want. You can remove the Invisalign brace any time you want, for example for a photo shoot. Without metal brackets on your teeth, you are able to brush and floss your teeth properly, without obstruction from fixed brackets or wires. In addition, the absence of sharp metal pieces, which may irritate the cheeks and gums, ensures comfort during treatment. Food particles and fibres will not get stuck on your braces. A longer check-up interval also helps you save valuable time.
How does Invisalign work?
Consulting an Invisalign Provider
First of all, make sure you select an experienced Orthodontist that you trust or feel comfortable with, to take care of your treatment. The orthodontist will conduct an initial examination by evaluating your needs and determine what kind of brace is suitable for you. The orthodontist will also determine if Invisalign is right for you and will brief you on the costs, the procedure and other concerns.
Creating a 3-D image of your teeth
To begin, Invisalign will need to create a digital 3-D image of your teeth; hence the orthodontist will need to take x-rays, pictures and impressions of your teeth. From these images, the orthodontist will map out a precise treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth. Using this same technology, the orthodontist will even be able to show you a virtual representation of how your teeth will move with each stage of treatment.
Receive your Custom Aligners based on your personalized treatment plan
Based on your individual treatment plan, a series of custom-made, clear aligners made of a smooth, comfortable, BPA-free plastic is then created specifically for you. These aligners will not irritate your cheeks and gums like traditional metal braces sometimes do. You will wear them throughout the day, except during eating, brushing and flossing your teeth. Over time, your teeth gently and gradually shift into place as you wear each set of aligners. Best of all, as they’re virtually invisible, most people won’t even notice you’re wearing them.
Wear a new aligner every 0ne or two weeks
Approximately every 7 – 14 days, you will begin wearing a new set of aligners, advancing you to the next stage of your treatment. To monitor your progress, you will also have occasional check-ups with your orthodontist, usually every six weeks or so. At every stage, you will be able to see how much closer you are to having the smile that enhances your inner beauty.
While every case is unique to each patient, treatment could take a year or more. For best results and a timely outcome, you should wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day, throughout your entire treatment.
